To take the next step in production and efficiency, growers need to look more closely at their land asset. Call it farming by the foot, or site-specific agriculture, the future of farming is in discovering and finding the techniques to deal with smaller management zones. These zones are regions where one or more attributes are pretty consistent.
To identify them, we bring together several tools:
- soil samples where the GPS coordinates have been recorded
- yield mapping from headers,
- geo-referenced plant vigour imagery from aerial imagery that has been analysed using remote sensing software, and
- the local knowledge of the farm owner.
We use SST Software products to record and analyse the data, producing surface maps that show the interaction of factors carefully chosen in consultation with your agronomist. This kind of analysis reveals what soil nutrition factors may be contributing to higher productivity in some spots.
The software can also assist in data management including records of pesticide applications and other such farm activities.
