Aerial imagery can assist forest managers in a variety of ways that include both spatial and spectral qualities.

From the moment that planning commences, the site layout relies on high resolution imagery to identify features. Suitable blocks are laid out using orthoimages as the base layer in the GIS enabling measurement. Contours can be overlaid on the plan.

Semi-annual assessments of growth are made easy and cost effective with aerial imagery. The use of infra-red images and remote sensing technology makes it possible to assess the variations in tree vigour across the site, and develop strategies to optimise this.

If natural disasters such as fire or storm damage affect the site, the impact can be rapidly assessed, recorded and communicated using both true colour and infra-red imagery.
