Rehabilitation

In preparing and implementing plans for mine site rehabilitation, imagery can serve as the fundamental in a baseline assessment of the site. It can inform the planning for the distribution of trees across landscape features in revegetation projects.

Infra-red imagery can reveal vegetation under stress, from environmental contaminants or from difficult growing conditions in the case of revegetation. Crown diameters can be reliably measured as a growth rate indicator.
